"I’m so grateful for the care I received from the Midwives of Muskoka. From my first visit, I felt informed, supported, and truly cared for. Every question I had was answered with kindness and clarity, which helped me feel confident and at ease through each stage of my pregnancy. The clinic itself was warm and inviting, and the entire team fostered a welcoming, community-centered atmosphere. It felt like more than just medical care—it felt like support from a circle of women who genuinely cared. Though my birth didn’t go exactly as planned, I felt safe, empowered, and supported throughout. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend MoM to anyone looking for compassionate, personalized care."

"My experience with the Midwives of Muskoka was incredibly grounding during a time of deep uncertainty. When I learned I needed a C-section, I was overwhelmed with fear and anxiety. The midwives’ calm and thorough guidance helped me understand what to expect, and their presence brought so much comfort. What made the biggest difference was the continued support after birth. I struggled with postpartum anxiety, and the midwives were there with steady, compassionate care. They checked in regularly, offered reassurance, and validated my emotions in a way that helped me cope and begin to heal. I truly believe their emotional and physical support helped me become a stronger, more confident parent. I’ll always be grateful for how they showed up for me."

"I’ve had the support of Midwives of Muskoka for two of my births, and I couldn’t imagine better care. In my first experience with them, I was dealing with anxiety, and the team immediately adjusted their approach to provide more frequent, reassuring support. They helped me plan a home water birth, and I felt truly empowered every step of the way. With my next birth, circumstances changed, and I ended up needing a medical induction. Even with the unexpected shift, I felt informed, supported, and never alone. When my baby required a NICU stay, the midwives continued to check in and offer comfort during a difficult time. Their ability to meet you where you’re at—both emotionally and physically—is unmatched. I’ll always recommend Midwives of Muskoka for their thoughtful and holistic care."

“I have been so fortunate to have two beautiful babies under the care of the Midwives of Muskoka. Each appointment I felt heard and understood, and I left feeling like I was making educated decisions about my care. Both of my deliveries were wildly different, neither going according to “plan”. My Midwives were wonderful primaries and were sucha calming presence during the high stress situations. With one being in the hospital and the other being an unplanned homebirth, Ive now experienced midwifery care in both settings and have seen just how prepared they truely are at any given time. Both babies delivered safe and sound and I couldnt have asked for a better team around me. Honourable mentions to wonderful back-ups who I know we couldnt have done it without either.”

Midwifery care is based on a respect for pregnancy as a state of health, and childbirth as a normal physiologic process and a profound event in a person’s life.
Midwifery care respects the diversity of a pregnant person’s needs and the variety of personal and cultural meanings that clients, families and communities bring to the pregnancy, birth and early parenting experience.
The maintenance and promotion of health throughout the childbearing cycle are central to midwifery care. Midwives focus on preventative care and the appropriate use of technology.
Care is continuous, personalized and non-authoritarian. Midwives respond to a client’s social, emotional, and cultural, as well as physical needs.
Midwives promote decision-making as a shared responsibility between the client, their family (as they choose to define) and their caregivers. The client is recognized as the primary decision maker.
Fundamental to midwifery care is the understanding that a pregnant person’s caregivers respect and support the client so that they may give birth safely, with power and dignity.
