About MoM

Midwives of Muskoka has been providing care and delivering babies in the community since 2005.  We are a group of 6 full-time midwives, with a collective 50+ years of experience in midwifery. Our Midwifery team members have arrived to this profession through different backgrounds and experiences but we all share a passion for evidence-based, client-centered care. We feel privileged to care for pregnant people and their babies during these pivotal life transitions.

Midwives of Muskoka work in a shared-primary call model. Clients with our practice will be assigned to a team of 2 midwives. Your midwives alternate call availability and clinic visits every month so you will have lots of opportunities prenatally to get to know them both.

We are a dedicated team of 6 on-call midwives and 3 support staff providing high-quality, evidence-based care.

Student Midwives

When clients come into midwifery care, they will be offered the option of having Midwifery students involved in their care. Midwives of Muskoka has a long legacy of being a teaching practice and we work closely with McMaster University and Toronto Metropolitan University Midwifery Education Programs.

Benefits to having a student involved in your care include:

  • Continuous involvement in your care; Your midwife team will alternate between 2 care providers and but a student will be a consistant person in your care.

  • Passionate enthusiasm for midwifery care and birth; students bring fresh eagerness and willingness to go the extra mile in providing great care.

  • Up-to-date evidence and research to provide current perspectives to questions or concerns you may have.

  • Your role as a client puts you in the teaching position: Your feedback helps them develop into strong, caring midwives.

  • You will be helping to grow midwifery for future parents and babies.

A midwife will always be close by to supervise their student and you will always be asked if you want a student involved in your care.  For more information about the Midwifery Education Program and midwifery students click here: https://www.ontariomidwives.ca/regulation-education

M.O.M. Students

Hi!  I’m Reagan

Before moving to Hamilton for school, I spent 11 years in North Bay, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Nipissing University. After graduation, I worked coordinating schedules for emergency room physicians. During that time, I watched many friends become parents, and their experiences highlighted the need for more holistic and continuous support during pregnancy and birth. This inspired me to pursue midwifery, with the goal of providing compassionate care to families in my community.

During my free time, I enjoy rollerblading, beach volleyball, and reading with my cat curled up beside me. I am very excited to start my midwifery journey with the team at M.O.M.!

This student is in their first clinical placement under the close supervision of a registered midwife (12 weeks x 2). The focus of learning is introductory skills for care during the pregnancy and postpartum periods, transitioning to focus on management of low risk labour and birth. (May to December 2026)

Hi! I'm Amy Gosselin (she/her)- 4th year Midwifery, McMaster University.

My passion for pregnancy and childbirth began at a very young age when I stumbled upon birthing videos online. This early fascination set me on a path towards a career in midwifery care. Growing up in a small French community in Northern Ontario, I witnessed first-hand the challenges of limited access to maternity care. Since 2022, my community has had no gynecology or obstetric services, with the nearest place to give birth being a hour away. My goal is the change this by becoming a midwife providing much-needed care to my community.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and our many fur babies or unwinding with a good book. Thank you are letting me be a part of your journey.

This student is in their fourth and final year of their Midwifery-BHS degree, gaining hands on experience by actively managing client care under the supervision of Registered Midwives, from prenatal care to births and postpartum care. They will be learning in an apprentice-based model and are a welcome part of our practice, often contributing an extra set of skilled hands and new insights. In their second semester, they have fulfilled the criteria to act as the second midwife at hospital births. By their final semester they are qualified to act in that role at homebirths, with increasingly indirect supervision while they work towards preparing for Midwifery Registration and independent practice.
